This is an old tag i know but I don't read a ton of classics but they are something I would like to make more of an effort to read. Obviously I wasn't actually tagged by anyone but here goes.
1. An overhyped classic you really didn't like:
The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
I just really don't get the hype over this one. It's such a short book but it felt like torture getting to the end. I might try a re-read at some point and see if my opinions have changed.
2. Favourite time period to read about:
Definitely the Victorian era
There were just so many social etiquettes and customs that they tried to abide by it is a great setup for some comedic results.
3. Favourite Fairytale:
I have to admit I don't think I've actually read any of the original fairytales.
4. What is the most embarrassed classic you haven't read yet:
I think I would have to go with Charles Dickens' Great Expectations or To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
5. Top 5 classics you would like to read (soon):
6. Favourite modern book/series based on a classic:
I'm going to have to go with The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, I loved how she kept enough of the original tales and characters that you could see what they were based on.
7. Favourite movie/TV series based on a classic:
The answer that jumped out straight away would have to be the 2004 BBC mini series of North & South starring Richard Armitage and Daniela Denby-Ashe.
8. Worst classic to movie adaptation:
I haven't liked any of the adaptations of The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne.
9. Favourite edition(s) you would like to collect more classics from:
The Penguin English Library Editions for sure
10. An underhyped classic you would recommend to everyone:
I haven't read many classics that are not really popular but if I had to suggest one it would probably be The Blue Castle by L. M. Montgomery
What is your favourite classic of all time?
