Book Review: Trust With A Chaser By Annabeth Albert

Title: Trust With A Chaser

Series: Rainbow Cove #1

Author: Annabeth Albert

Genre: Romance / MM Romance

My Rating: ★ ★ ★ ½

One hot cop. One bar owner out for redemption. One smoking-hot summer fling destined to leave scorch marks…

Mason Hanks has returned to Rainbow Cove, Oregon with one goal in mind: turn the struggling coastal community into a thriving LGBTQ tourism destination. Step one is transforming an old bar and grill into a gay-friendly eatery. Step two? Don’t piss off Nash Flint, the very hot, very stern chief of police who’s not so sure he’s on board with Mason’s big plans.

Nash Flint just wants to keep his community safe and enjoy the occasional burger in peace. He’s not big on change nor is he a fan of Mason’s troublemaking family, especially his rowdy older brothers. But Mason slowly wins him over with fantastic cooking and the sort of friendship Nash has been starving for.

When their unlikely friendship takes a turn for the sexy, both men try to steer clear of trouble. Nash believes he’s too set in his ways for Mason, and Mason worries that his family’s reputation will ruin any future with Nash. Burning up the sheets in secret is a surefire way to crash and burn, and discovery forces a heart-wrenching decision—is love worth the risk of losing everything?

Mason Hanks returns home to the small town of Rainbow Cove after buying the local tavern. He has big plans to try to turn the town into a LGBT friendly tourist destination. The locals don't make things easy for Mason as he is still judged by the actions of his family who don't have the best reputation in town. Things are going along fine and then sheriff sexy walks in.

Nash Flint the local sheriff enters the Rainbow Tavern and knows straight away he is in trouble. Due to his traditional upbringing and the looming shadow of his father he is nearing 40 and still in the closet believing he can't live the life he wants as a gay man.

Mason and Nash are instantly attracted to each other but fight it for a while but even with outside interference, eventually a slow building relationship grows between them. There is plenty of chemistry between the two and even though there was an age gap, (Mason is 27 and Nash is 40) that was never really a problem that came up, on occasion Mason actually seemed like the more mature one of the two and showed real patience with Nash that not many would have.

This was my first Annabeth Albert read and I will definitely be picking up book 2 and am also looking forward to giving some of her other series a go.
